The Wuhan Greenland Hotel Apartment is a testament to the power of design to create dialogue between a city and its surrounding geographic space. The main building of the Wuhan Greenland Center, where the hotel apartment is located, is a landmark in central China. It is designed to express its connection with the surrounding environmental systems. The interior design concept, on the other hand, is a fusion of Chinese and Western living cultures, reflecting the past and the present.
The uniqueness of this design lies in its spatial relationship, which is stripped into two levels. The first level is the layout of the environment and buildings, and the second is the abstract enclosure of the interior and the environment. Traditional oriental elements such as flowers and trees, landscape windows, gradual steps, stone trails, and courtyards are integrated and arranged organically into the lobby's streamlines.
The design realization technology used in this project is noteworthy. The rich layers of ash and mint green colors not only give the space a noble texture but also make it simple and fashionable. The soft or rigid lines and materials echo the rhythm of the design theme of “high mountains and flowing water”, brewing the philosophical thought of time and existence. The use of elegant white color, natural wood grain, freehand ink, simple but capable lines, and modern block-like design techniques has led to the utmost creation of a quiet and elegant beauty in the Chinese style.
The drapery and accessories are all made of high-quality materials and arranged in a simple but streamlining process, making each product adorable and the overall space full of memorable artistic temperament. It seems that you can appreciate such a space from every angle. On the other hand, the overall spatial style of the modern minimalism, the use of high-quality materials, and the spatial planning full of changes and humanity also make the functionality of the space worthy of your finest appreciation.
The project was completed in April 2018 in Wuhan. The layout planning of this Hotel Apartment was a challenge, but the design team, led by Joe Cheng and Ken Hu, successfully overcame it. The result is a temporary reception area and display area for the show house that extends the interior design concept to the whole project. The design has been awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019, a testament to its outstanding expertise and innovation.
